When you consider an outdoor shoot, the winter is not often your first choice of season, but soft winter light can make for some beautiful images. We worked with a client a couple of weeks ago and got some gorgeous results.
This first image was shot in the alley behind our studio in Boston, the snow on the ground reflected light back onto Josefine’s face and the reflection of the low winter sun on the buildings gave lovely warm highlights. The red brick and painted wall background worked great with her green coat. This style of natural lighting gives a super soft look and is really flattering. It can work well for author headshots, acting headshots, executive portraits and as part of a modeling portfolio shoot, or for anyone who is looking for a more styled, high-end image.
The second shot I love from Josefine’s session was shot in Channel Center. The bare trees and the snow on the sidewalk add to feel of the urban background. The light in the street was soft and diffused and we lit Josefine up to get a snappy looking image. Again, this type of image works for executive portraits as well public figures and singers!
