Peter Smith Photographer
Peter Smith founded Headshots Photography in 1989. He graduated from Boston University’s College of Communication where he concentrated in photojournalism. He went on to photograph for the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, where he was part of the team who won a Pulitzer prize for their political coverage in 1988.
As a roving photographer Peter was drawn to portraiture from the start as he found it to be a core tool of story telling. He found that portraits offer more than the likeness of a subject, they also convey the values of the subject, be it confidence, integrity or compassion. Along with the ability to connect with his subject in a strong way Peter brings his understanding of light and moment to every image he creates. Whether he is shooting a portrait in the studio or on location he photographs his subject in the best light possible.
He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Photojournalism at Boston University and he continues to cover news for Polaris Images in New York. Peter also serves on the board for North Shore Civic Ballet, in Marblehead, MA.
