Peter Smith Photographer
Peter Smith founded Headshots Photography in 1989. He graduated from Boston University’s College of Communication where he concentrated in photojournalism. He went on to become a staff photographer for the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, where he was part of the team that won a Pulitzer prize for national political coverage in 1988.
Peter was also a news photographer for Gamma Liaison and a corporate photographer for Getty Images in the 90’s. In 2000 he joined the College of Communication’s Journalism Department at Boston University as an Assistant Professor and continues his work there as a Senior Lecturer.
Drawn to portraiture from the start, Peter found it to be a core tool of visual story telling. He found that portraits show more than the likeness of a subject, but more importantly convey a subject’s values of confidence and integrity. Along with the ability to connect with a subject in a fundamental way, Peter brings an understanding of light and decisive moment to every image he creates.
